NHAI renumbered to route as NH 48 in 2010. Earlier the Delhi-Mumbai portion of the highway was known as NH8.
NH48 starts at Delhi and terminates at Chennai traversing through seven states. Arm 1 is a part from Delhi to Mumbai that is a part of the Golden Quadrilateral project to connect India’s major cities.
